Managing Partner
Head the YCC committee and support them in running our projects and events
Description:
The Managing Partner gains real-world experience in all aspects of management. Making the decisions which are key to the future of YCC, with the chance to develop and enact new strategies which will have a real impact on the organisation, the university and the wider York community. As the leader, there is no position more rewarding when you see the impact YCC has on our clients, students and community.
Responsibilities:
- Attend and lead bi-weekly meetings of the leadership team
- Assure the maximum possible professional and personal development of everyone in the organisation
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities appropriately
- Act to ensure that all necessary work is completed to a high standard
- Particularly focus on coordinating the Client Services Team to run the projects
- Facilitate communication between all departments and members
- Coordinate department leaders to ensure that YCC is better than the sum of its parts
- Set the objectives for each year and term
- Plan to enable committee members to meet these objectives
- Chair a twice-termly meeting, focusing on the long-term direction of YCC
- Constantly improve and update the quality of our work using insights from professionals
- Lead strategy meetings with the SLT (Heads of Department - HR, Engagement and Partnerships, Technology, Client Services) to discuss changes
- Review all processes and projects
- Liaise with the departmental heads (HR, Engagement and Partnerships, Technology, Client Services) to drive improvement across the entire committee
- Initiate the collection of feedback regarding our progression against our key aims
- Ensure that we always have an excellent and balanced client base lined up for the following term
- Aim to work for a mix of charities, start-ups, public sector and larger companies each term
- Engage with the board and organise board meetings
- Provide the board with a termly update of major developments within YCC
- Organise a termly meeting with the board to discuss strategic issues facing the organisation
- Ensure that YCC continues to enrich the wider student body by hosting public events throughout the year
- Continue to provide events to show University of York and external students the best of what the consulting industry has to offer (and vice versa) exploring topical and engaging themes and ideas
- Maintain and foster engagement with YCC Alumni and University faculty, to enrich the organisation's relationship with its wider network
